6/05/09 - Picked the bulk of the peas and have shelled only about 1 qt. so far from an 18’ row.  I am                                                                      disappointed in the variety that I choose this year because of it’s yield! It had execellent germination and vigor, produced                  healthy vines and no sign of disease, however, the yield was very underwhelmin
I usually plant “Green Arrow” that have 4" pods with 10 or more peas per pod or  Maestro with 4 1/2" pods and also 10                or more peas per pod.  The variety I choose this year, Premium, because it was early, claimed to have 2 1/2 - 3" pods                      with 7-8 peas per pod. Most pods were about 2" or less with 5 peas to a pod.  Many were much smaller with 2-4                               peas per pod.
6/06/09 - Picked the last. Only a few undeveloped left on the vines.  Vines are in good shape with no sign of disease.                                        Fed with fish emulsion and hoping for a second, smaller set.

7/26/09 - Some of the vines look scraggly. Dug around by one vine and could not find any tubers.  I have a strong concern about tuber growth with the wet soil conditions.
8/06/09 - Dug up a 3’ section where the vines were killed off by too much rain and got a few lbs of new red’s!
8/17/08 - Remaining vines scraggly but alive, and seed balls formed on top!-
9/22/09 - Dug them all about a week ago and only got a few dozen fingerling sized spuds. The rain ruined the yield.
